“He Helped Me Through My Personal Struggles” – Rinhee Suberwal’s Journey with Prabhu Deva

Renowned tarot card reader, astrologer, and choreographer Rinhee Suberwal shared her heartfelt journey with the legendary Prabhu Deva on the occasion of his birthday, which was celebrated on April 3rd. Her association with him goes back many years, and she opened up about how much he has meant to her both personally and professionally.

Rinhee started dancing when she was just two years old. Her mother is a singer, and her grandmother has been a part of the Bengali film industry. Rinhee comes from a family of artists, including her aunt who is an actor. Naturally, she picked up the artistic qualities from her surroundings and knew she wanted to make a career in dance and performance.

She was born in Bhilai , and during her 10th standard, her family moved to Mumbai . But her heart was always set in Mumbai , and later she shifted to Mumbai in 2002. After arriving in Mumbai, she joined Shiamak Davar’s academy, and within three months, she got promoted to the professional batch. That’s when her journey as a choreographer and performer truly began.

In 2010, Rinhee started her own dance academy RDC. In just three months, she had around 150 students, which was a big achievement. In 2011, her maternal uncle Mr. Subrata Dasgupta introduced her to Mr. Nagendra Prasad, the youngest brother of Prabhu Deva. They all flew to Chennai, and a contract was signed in 2012. That’s how she began running a dance academy in association with Prabhu Deva’s family, launching the first branch in Belapur, Navi Mumbai.

She had already started her own academy called , which later ran in partnership with Prabhu Deva’s team. Rinhee traveled often to Chennai and did many shows there and in Mumbai. During this time, she met the legendary choreographer Saroj Khan ji and performed at several events in her presence.

She also met Prabhu Deva’s entire family – his mother Mahadev Amma, father Mugur Sundaram Master, and elder brother Raju Sundaram. They were always kind and supportive towards her and appreciated her performances. Rinhee said they had high hopes for her, which gave her confidence and strength to move ahead in her journey.

Meeting Prabhu Deva multiple times, she received the official choreographer’s license from the Indian Film and Television Choreographers Association (IFTCA) because of his support. This recognition helped her work professionally in the film and TV industry.

One of her big career moments came when she assisted Vishu Deva  for the song “Meri Angelina” from the film Baa Baaa Black Sheep, starring Anupam Kher, Manjari Fadnis, and Maniesh Paul. She got this opportunity through Prabhu Deva, who introduced her to Vishnu Deva.

Despite facing many rejections while trying to become an assistant director, Rinhee never gave up. She believed in the power of manifestation and always wanted to be close to Prabhu Deva’s world. She even took her students to meet him in Chennai. Being from Navi Mumbai, where such dreams seemed distant, her journey gained a lot of respect in her community.

Talking about Prabhu Deva, she said, “Anna is extremely spiritual and very intelligent. His choreography is magical. He is calm, kind, and always supportive. His style is different from everyone else. He is a man of few words but very grounded and humble.”

She added, “He always showed great respect towards me and my family. That kind of respect comes from true humility. He even helped me during my personal struggles, which I will never forget. I don’t meet him every day, but I know that his entire family is proud of how far I’ve come.”

When asked if she would like to work with him again, she said she would love to. And on his birthday, her message was full of warmth and respect:
“Prabhu Anna has inspired dancers and choreographers everywhere. He has shown the world that true talent doesn’t depend on looks, size, or anything else. If we are true to our art and good as human beings, success will surely come our way.”
